Author's Biography

 

From a perspective of within, Chere Hughes expresses motivations of the human spirit.

Transported by cinematic style writing, Chere’s stories are articulate dramatic reads. Her colorful writing spins tales integrating current culture within fantasy sci-fi realms. Her writing, speculative fiction. Having written many short stories, she’s played in the genres of sci-fi Deities, time travel, western fantasy, mortuary thrillers, post-apocalyptic themes, romance, and more.


As the stage for a journey within, her fiction draws from esoterics, neuroscience, and fringe science. Chere’s work speaks to the potential inside oneself and how that communes with the whole. She is currently completing her first fiction novel, The Nine Trilogy, Bk 1.

Additionally, Chere illustrates, at times, with charcoal and vibrant pastels revealing figurescapes surrounded with structure, atmosphere and symbolism. Her emotionally engaging drawings are an added form of dialogue for her writing.

Most recently, Chere taught English, art and funeral service education for eight years at Vincennes University Vincennes, IN. Earlier, before earning her BFA at ASU she served as a mortician. At ASU she studied under Mark Klett, Jim Hajicek, and Stephen Smith. Chere was awarded ‘best of show’ Senior exhibition. She earned her MEd curriculum and development at UNLV.

Chere’s work has been seen in numerous national exhibitions and publication as well as in public and private collections. She is a current member of the Author’s Guild and lives at 7k ft. deep within the Ponderosa pine forest of Flagstaff, AZ
